The city of Querétaro (officially Santiago de Querétaro) is located just over 200km northwest of Mexico City and is easily reached by bus. Upon getting my bag after the other 40 people, I attempted to explain to the worker that I wasn't trying skip the line (seriously who would in that situation), and he held up his hand to dismiss me, and gestured towards my bag.ĮTN staff, on the other hand, at least took the time to explain or gesture to what was required, understood poor Spanish, and seemed to appreciate your business.Taking the Bus from Mexico City to Querétaro My own poor Spanish didn't allow for me to argue this easily, and I had little choice. The workers then told me they refuse to take my luggage tag until the rest of the bus had been given their luggage, and I was to go to the back of the line as a punishment. My attempt to get into line beside the people I had just been standing with (that were sitting beside me on the bus at the front) was met with complaints from a passenger who was 10 people back, also stated in Spanish. As people got off the bus they began to form a crowd and the workers quickly rattled off a request in Spanish to form a line, but taking a second to translate that I, wasn't as quick to move as everyone else. As I was at the front of the bus, I was among the first to arrive to pick-up my luggage by providing the luggage tag information. In addition, I had a bad experience with the people removing the luggage from the Primera Bus, with some discrimination towards my somewhat poor Spanish. With Primera, don't expect any English from any staff. Both sets of tickets were bought online as I knew the times I wanted, and this saved 15% on the cost, which was already quite low around 500 pesos. Snack/drink offerings were about the same. ETN chairs are a bit more comfortable and modern, the ETN bus is better for single travelers with a number of single seats (no sharing of armrests), and the ETN bus is somewhat nicer overall. I took the ETN bus line up from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende, and then back with Primera Plus a few days later, in order to compare/contrast.
